Promoting young talent

Syntrac is committed to promoting Young Talent.
Not only has it created a dedicated program for female researchers such as the International Female Program, but SynTrac has implemented structures and instruments at its very core to give young researcher in Syntrac the best start.

Integrated Research Training Group

The Integrated Research Training Group is a central element in the promotion of young talent. SynTrac creates a large, cross-location and interdisciplinary research network that breaks down the traditionally rigid hierarchies and priorities of current aircraft development in order to exploit the synergies of highly integrated commercial aircraft.

This is a particular challenge for young researchers. Therefore, a structured graduate programme supporting PhD students is essential to achieve the following strategic goals:

  • Scientific excellence of the doctoral thesis
  • in-depth cross-location and interdisciplinary research
  • optimal individual qualification
  • early scientific independence
  • international scientific exchange and networking
  • a common working culture that combines expertise from all relevant areas

Interaction with pupils

Furthermore, SynTrac fosters interactions with young people who have not started their careers in academia yet.

The CRC regularly connects with pupils to foster interest in the scientific work and engage them in an exchange about its societal and global impact.
SynTrac members are contributing to many events such Girl‘s Day, Tag der Wissenschaft oder Try Science Programmen. More on this can be found in our news section.

Early Career Researchers

Among the SynTrac project leaders participating in the research focus areas A, B, and C there are six early career researchers.

Christoph Bode, Project leader

B01
Institute of Jet Propulsion and Turbomachinery, TU Braunschweig

Cornelia Grabe, Project leader

A03
Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology, DLR

Johann Groß, Project leader

C04
Institute of Aircraft Propulsion Systems, University of Stuttgart

Tobias P. Ring, Project leader

C04, RTG
Institute for Acoustics and Dynamics, Technical University of Braunschweig

Kathrin Schulte, Project leader

C02, PR
Institute of Aerospace Thermodynamics, University of Stuttgart

Meiko Steen, Project leader

A05
Institute of Flight Guidance, TU Braunschweig

The development and qualification of early career scientists is essential for a future-oriented research program and for a future-oriented research institution. Both Technische Universität Braunschweig and the University of Stuttgart provide comprehensive and well tailored support for early career scientists at the different stages of their career to support them in their development and in reaching their full potential. For the early career project leaders as well as for all involved scientists on the post-doc level, the opportunity for professional and personal development is offered within the framework of SynTrac. For example, funds are made available for participation in coaching and workshops.
