As part of research project C03, Manuel Zeitler is investigating how the synergies of boundary layer ingestion of rear mounted BLI-180 engines can be optimized by means of passive and active design of the engine inlet and intake geometry. The negative impact of inflow disturbances on the fan will also be taken into account.
Active flow control will be implemented to support and extend the design aspects as well as to show the potential of these methods.
