As part of his research, Niraj Iyer delves into understanding the impact of Boundary Layer Ingestion (BLI) arising from a highly integrated aircraft configuration on fan performance.

The methodology begins with the formulation of an initial engine design encompassing a preliminary fan blade and nozzle configuration. Furthermore, the approach entails assessing the sensitivities of the fan-intake system and optimizing a distortion tolerant rotor blade design. In addition to the intake, aerodynamic interactions of the fan with the non-symmetries in the exhaust are evaluated.
