In research project A06, Jakob Schlittenhardt is investigating the overall aircraft design. Specifically, the interactions, synergies, and potentials of novel propulsion systems for transport aircraft are under scrutiny. The implementation of different disciplines from the other sub-projects in the aircraft design, as well as the feedback of findings, play a unique role, considering the integration of varying fidelity levels.

Peter Scholz heads sub-project C03, which looks at the control of inhomogeneous inlet flows.
He is a research group leader and engineer-in-chief at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics at TU Braunschweig.
–
Mark Schneider is addressing the aeroacoustic aspects of distributed propulsion systems, as encountered in configuration 2a as part of the subproject C06.
The primary objectives include the implementation of a robust broadband model capable of representing not only harmonic phenomena but also stochastic acoustic mechanisms.

As PI of subproject C02, Kathrin Schulte is in the lead of numerical investigations and modeling to research the potential of porous media in modern propulsion systems.
She heads a group at the Institute of Aerospace Thermodynamics at the University of Stuttgart that deals with numerical simulations of multiphase flows. In Syntrac, she also heads the public relations project.

Within the A07 sub-project, Daniel Six deals with holistic aircraft design optimization. The main focus is on managing information for a System-of-Systems (SoS)-inspired Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) framework, in order to maximize the synergy effects between the sub-disciplines.
Key goals within the projects are to enable efficient information exchange between the domains, as well as consolidating them on the overall aircraft design level.

As part of the A03 research project, Elrawy Soliman is exploring the synergies and possibilities that emerge from coupling the airframe, the control surfaces and the distributed propulsion systems.
The aim is to study the slipstream interaction with the airfarme as well as the potetial of using the distirubuted propusion for differntial thrust to ovetake some control fuctionalities.
